History

At Robert Piggott CE Schools, the History curriculum aims to develop children’s knowledge of historical periods, events and significant individuals through personal enquiry, research and discussion. Children are taught key concepts, such as chronological understanding, alongside key facts. They are also taught key skills in order to analyse and evaluate historical evidence with a critical mind. Where appropriate, we link history to other subjects, aiming for children to develop an understanding of how past events influence how we live today and how to compare and contrast life in different historical periods. Children will be enthused by their history topics, through our cross-curricular approach and enrichment activities which immerse them in the period, creating intrigue and enjoyment.
